SATC 2 is one of the most anticipated movies of the year and finally it debut in most theaters everywhere. Sex and the City 2 received lots of negative reviews from film critics, but this did not stop SATC fans from going to see the movie, including us. We went to see it with an open mind and have to admit that during the first half-hour it was somewhat boring, but just like those four lovely ladies, the movie got better with time. If there was anything insanely painful to watch it would have to be the hideous outfits Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker) wore for the film. Samantha (Kim Cattrall) and Miranda’s (Cynthia Nixon) outfits were sort of enlightening, excluding the ones above where they are ready for a circus show. Nixon, we have to say, never looked as appealing as she did in the black dress with gold studs and low v-neckline that she wore at the beginning of the film. It was beyond breathtaking. Charlotte’s (Kristin Davis) outfits were, um… *yawn*, to say the least. It was reported that the extensive wardrobe cost $10 million dollars, yet we don’t recall seeing more than one piece that you can define as the “million dollar dress”.

As for the film itself, we won’t give you any spoilers, (or maybe we will), but it deals with four women that are experiencing motherhood, menopause, career and marriage problems. If you were concerned, no worries, they made sure to give you lots of SEX and City, not in NY, but in Abu Dhabi (actually shot in Morocco). Of course, if you are extremely liberal and free with uncontrolled hormones, the depiction of Abu Dhabi may not be the place for you, as it certainly wasn’t the one for Samantha who was jailed for kissing our future baby daddy (we’re giving Butler the boot) Max Ryan. We’d do some jail time to grope the sexy silver fox ourselves. The men in the movie were all SUPER HOT. All in all, we won’t continue spoiling it for you, but we’d say Samantha’s character really made the film more entertaining. We enjoyed the film as much, if not more than we did the first one. The story gets a thumbs up if you want a good laugh (that includes mocking the horrible clothes). The fashion in it, most certainly could have been better, so guess what gets a thumbs down? Huge disappointment Patricia.

The BEST dressed at “American Woman: Fashioning A National Identity” Costume Institute Gala at The Metropolitan Museum of Art were few. The annual Costume Institute Gala gives celebrities the opportunity to dress to impress. Some women got it some women don’t. These women got it right that night in white, brights and glittery-shimmery beige. Emma Watson, simple dress, but very beautiful. Diane Kruger wore a plain white dress, but it works, less is more; nonetheless, we would have loved it more if she would’ve worn a huge necklace or oversize earrings with it. Jennifer Lopez has been doing really great lately. Good job JLo, you’re making fashmama proud! Taylor Swift, we don’t think we’ve ever caught her in a dull moment. Swift’s taste for style is quite exquisite. Claire Danes, it is a pretty dress, we think she could have done a lot better, but all in all it is fairly good. Read more »

The 82nd Annual Academy Awards: Oscars 2010 had some fashion blunders, but we’re happy to say that this year even the ladies who fell in the worst category, really didn’t looked so bad, just not super great either. And since we have a good and bad list, these are the ones who didn’t manage to woo us away: Diane Kruger, Mariah Carey, Sarah Jessica Parker, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Nicole Richie, Meryl Streep, Mo’Nique, Charlize Theron, and Penelope Cruz.

Sarah Jessica Parker wore a strapless Nina Ricci gown designed by Olivier Theyskens for the Sex and the City premiere. The New York Times reports, “It was one of 40 outfits that Parker planned for the movie’s premieres in London and Berlin, and the press junkets.” The designer has expressed she’d be the first one to wear it when in fact other public figures had worn the dress before.
