If you have heard about the wonders Coconut oil can do, trust me, you have NOT been lied to. I was recently told that if one uses coconut oil for the hair, skin, and nails that it will improve your overall appearance. My curiosity nearly killed me, so I went ahead and purchased two jars and upon receipt, I immediately put it to the test. Beforehand, of course, I did a lot of research, and mostly everyone gave it 5 out of 5 stars. Coconut Oil is used for cooking (be careful it is HIGH on saturated fat!), baking, and some people even use it as a facial moisturizer/body lotion. I bought the unrefined kind, and please note that if you live in cooler climates, the oil may arrive solidified in a bright white color. Mine turned so hard I could not dip the spoon in. Nonetheless, at room temperature, it liquifies and the color changes to clear. This is my take:
PREP THE OIL: I buy unrefined ORGANIC coconut oil, but refined can be used as well. I highly recommend organic products. Before using the Coconut Oil I put a few spoonfuls in a pot, I heat it for 30-60 SECONDS only and I wait for it to cool off (please give it time, the oil gets very HOT). I wait at the least 30-45 minutes before placing it inside a plastic spray bottle, ready for use. Read more »
PHYTO Phytodefrisant Botanical Hair Relaxing Balm for Frizzy Hair is such a great product. Being a fashionista and changing my look often consisted of having every hair color you can think of. Years later, this process of chemically treating my hair has taken a toll on my strands. Prone to frizz, I am always on the hunt for the best products out there to tame my very wild hair. On a whim, I recently purchased this balm and loved it so much I returned to the store to buy two more. I wet my hair, added about two quarter sizes of the product on to my mid-length hair, styled as usual, and I let it air dry. A few hours later, my hair was frizz-free, soft, and shiny. The Pros? It works! Cons? It is expensive, and you may have to use a lot more of the product as it runs out quite fast. Ugh. The price of beauty is a heavy one to pay! The 3.3 fl oz. runs around $26.00 at most beauty stores.
Nexxus Pro-Mend Leave-In Treatment Creme guarantees binding up to 92% of split ends back together in just ONE use. Considering that I recently got highlights done, I thought it would be fitting to purchase this product now. If there’s anything I absolutely LOVE about it, is the fact that it has the MOST pleasant fragrance ever. I’ve never smelled anything like it in any other product, and the scent remains while the hair is wet, when it dries it lightens. What I did NOT like about this creme is that it leaves your hair dull and frizzy, but in all fairness to this leave-in treatment, they NEVER said it will give you glamazon hair, they just stated it would mend split-ends, and that it did. They promised and they delivered. Smells exceptional. Mends split ends, though it doesn’t completely rid of them. It is an okay product, but will I purchase it again? Probably not.
Salon/Spas whether it is for a mani-pedi (manicure/pedicure), to get your hair done, treatment, eyebrows waxed, or just a back massage, you deserve to pamper yourself. It can be costly, but there’s no better feeling than that of feeling like a brand new woman, and that’s the exact way one feels when stepping out with a french manicure, a new do, and newly colored locks. Yes, we know, salons are expensive, times are hard, the kids need braces, car payments are due and the mortgage are all priorities, but what about YOU? Even if it is once a month, go ahead and treat yourself, you deserve it!
Avanti Silicon Mix Bambu has got to be, thus far, one of my TOP favorite hair treatments/conditioners. I have naturally wavy hair that I’ve chemically over-processed throughout the years, but Avanti’s Silicon Bambu Mix left my hair so beautiful and split-ends free that immediately I became a fan of it. It doesn’t matter what nationality you are, dry hair is dry hair and we all need to give love to our locks. Don’t be afraid of ethnic products, this one in particular is a gem. It leaves my hair so soft and manageable I absolutely love it. When my stylist tried this product on my hair I had to know what it was. After shampooing it, she applied the silicon mix evenly throughout covering every strand, then she put a plastic cap on it, set me under the dryer for 20 minutes in a medium setting and then rinsed with warm to cold water. What a difference it made! I had to ask her the name of it to share it with all of you, she obliged. Spread the beauty fashkiddos! Available at BeautyofNewYork.com for only $8.99
Chocolacio is a great hair treatment/conditioner made of rich cocoa butter extract made specifically to condition dry or damaged hair. We understand that sometimes when we purchase beauty products we are so infatuated with prestigious brand names that we overlook inexpensive ones that work just as well if not better than the overly priced ones. We like to try different products and we’re glad we found Chocolacio. It looks and smells just like chocolate. It is rather thick, is messy (it will do a job on your tub) but it washes/rinses right off. Just shampoo your hair, rinse. Work Chocolacio through your stressed strands, leave on for 3-5 minutes, rinse thoroughly. The end result? Lots of luster and shine, manageable hair with a chocolaty scent that’s quite a sweet delight. We recommend it! Available at BeautyofNewYork.com for only $8.99
