Suzy Menkes States Why She Feels Bloggers Are Becoming Influential

“Magazines, which during the past easy-money, heavy-advertising decade measured their clout by how many editors they could place in the front rows, are feeling the financial pinch. If the magazine crowd can get in and out by Sunday night, that is only three days of limos and hotels to pay for, rather than the usual five.  Then there are newspapers, facing economic turmoil and prepared to take desperate measures — like abandoning the first amendment of journalism that says a reporter must be there. Now it is supposedly acceptable to review collections, blogger-style, via the Internet. (Meanwhile, in an ironic switch, bloggers are sitting front row, filling spaces left by journalists with zero travel budgets.)”

~Suzy Menkes reporting for the NY Times

1930′S YEAR 2000 FASHION FORECAST

Don’t laugh! Like you never thought they’d be flying cars by now? This is footage from www.itnsource.com of American fashion designers in the 1930s fashion forecasting what well-dressed men and women will be wearing in the year 2000.  They never predicted Madonna’s cone shaped bras nor Gaga’s wear. We’re hoping they didn’t live to see it, hopefully we spared them the agony!

AMERICA’S NEXT TOP “MALE” MODEL

brody jenner

Brody Jenner poses for press at the 19th Annual MuchMusic Video Awards in Toronto, Canada. We are forecasting a bright future for Jenner in the modeling industry and celebrity land. We’ve got a good eye for this and no matter how immature this 24 year old is, we are more than certain he will get tons of gigs for campaign ads. Sure, Brad Pitt, George Clooney, and David Beckham are fine and divine, but they sure as hell haven’t swallowed the fountain of youth, and Hollywood is ready for fresh, young, HOT good looking pieces of …..

FASHION FORECAST 2013

neon

I try to live a normal life like everyone else, but the truth is I am not like most people and I don’t think like most people. I am a Fashion Forecaster, not because I like to call myself that, it is because I am. I usually get my visions in my dreams. And it isn’t everyday, but once in a blue moon, I do. You guys may think, “This Bitch is a Psycho.” But really, it freaks me out too, the truth is it never fails and I’m never wrong. Last night I dreamt of everyone outside in a public area and they were all wearing neon colors, it was a blurry vision.  I looked around observingly and the only thing I caught a clear vision of was a lower torso of a person wearing dark indigo denim jeans, and check this out, the zipper wasn’t in one neon color, but three: Neon Yellow, Pink and Green. Imagine that, where your fly’s zip comes in a mix of colors instead of black, silver or copper metal! Even the buttons were in neon swirls as well, then I glanced to the side there was a brick wall with the numbers 2013 marked on it. Am I special or what? I have a weird feeling that for 2010-2013 we will be going back to the 80’s with bandanas, brights, and flash dance tops in neon colors exposing one shoulder. You read it here first!

FASHION FORECAST 2010: GRAFFITI

graffiti, fashaddix, fashion forecast, models, designers

GRAFFITI. We’ve all seen it. Some of us hate it, others love it and I cannot help, but to admire it. Sure, tag names and scribbles on bathrooms and plastered on street walls is unpleasant, trashy and non-art. However, bright, colorful cartoons, squiggly letters and vibrant paintings are quite lovely. And while many would agree that it makes the streets look ghetto, I partially disagree. Too much of it is not attractive, but a nice drawing on the wall created by disadvantage kids in urban areas is like an art gallery for the poor. These kids do not have the sources, income, or someone to lead and tell them that this is ART and with the right education (computer programs) matched with their skill they can make tons of money if working for the precise audience. For years, I’ve been forecasting how huge GRAFFITI it is going to be. Not in our streets, but in our walls at home, on the outside of companies and restaurants if you find the right artist to do the right work for your business. Now, I feel they will hit the fashion market BIG time, but not only in baggy jeans and t-shirts like it did in the 80’s. This time it will hit the couture market, shoes also and all tight-fitted apparel for 2010. My forecasts usually peek in a little sooner or come out a little later but by 2010 I think designers will take graffiti to a whole other level and respect the beauty behind street art. Adidas is already hiring artists and applying graffiti to their footwear as craveonline reports.

graffiti sneakers, adidas, graffiti, fashaddix,

Trust me this is just the beginning, we will see more of it for sure! That’s my forecast for 2010, if the European markets bites into it sooner, we will probably won’t see it in the US until after 1-3years of 2010 unless they are reading my blog and are ready to beat the odds. It will be a HUGE success, you’ll see! Above image by stare.
