I love buying eyeliners. Recently I tried the PIXI Endless Silky Eye Pen and I like it SO much. It glides on smoothly, feels silky, the pigmentation is great, does not smudge, lasts all day, comes in 8 shades, and it is waterproof. For those of you who are sensitive to cosmetics, this one is hypoallergenic, paraben, preservative, and mineral-oil free. I bought mine in black-blue, which is sort of a midnight color that makes my smoky-eye look extra special! Available at pixibeauty.com for $14.00.
I love pink lipsticks and lately I’ve heard so many people raving about NARS Schiap lipstick I just had to get my hands on it. As of now, I cannot stop using MAC’s Girl About Town, which is such a pretty hot pink. I thought nothing could be brighter than MAC’s GAT, but NARS has proved me wrong. Schiap puts the HOT in hot pink. It is so bright you can stop traffic at night with your lips. Did that stop me from wearing it? No. It is such a fun color you can wear it to go partying, but not to a conservative workplace or church. Nonetheless, I love it for those days I go for daring. It’s a show-stopper! Available at NARS, $24.00.
Many people claim they HATE fashion, and I think the people who say that are lying. We all want to look attractive, to someone, right? Or ourselves? At the least, we want to look presentable. And that entails fashion whether you like it or not. I have to agree with Anna Wintour when she said, “There’s something about fashion that can make people very nervous.” Those are the same people who attack people in the fashion industry and say they “detest fashion.” But I dare say that everyone wants to be fashionable to an extent. And I know that everyone, absolutely everyone, is fashionable even if it is only 10%, they are. We all have a trademark. Whether it is they guy who cannot live without his big watch, or geeky chic eyeglasses, or the woman who always wears ballerina flats, or espadrilles, perhaps, bright red lipstick. There’s a trademark we all have. Mine is my 60′s makeup, and although I do not like wearing jewelry, I do like to wear occasionally one ring on my ring finger on my right hand when I go out to events, usually a cocktail ring. I think there is a special beauty we all uniquely have. There is something you love to wear that represents who you are. Capri pants? White shirts? A-line dresses? Novelty necklaces? Pearls? Pink? There’s something that makes you special, something you love to wear often that when people see it, they think about you. With that being stated, I’d like to ask… What’s your Trademark?
I have never written a review as excited as I am about writing about BH cosmetics. I am astounded as to how wonderful each item I’ve tried from them are. I have heard nothing less than positive things about their products, but I am the type of person that has to see to believe. I went on their website, and I dare say 99% of their cosmetics got 5 stars. I am going to be honest, I highly doubted them. ALL of the items on there are inexpensive, and I am iffy about cheap products as the old adage goes, “you get what you pay for.” I still gave them a shot, ordered a few palettes and at least one of many of the items they had on there. Trust me, the prices are so great it was a steal. This is my take on the following items:
The 88 Color Matte Palette and 88 Color Tropical Matte Palette
The colors and pigmentation of these eyeshadows are A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. You got that? The pigmentation is so wonderful these eyeshadows will work on any complexion from pale skin to dark ones. In addition, there is 88 shades to choose from starting with light shades of yellow and ending with nice beautiful blues. It also has grays and brown shades for those who are a bit shy of experimenting with bright hues. And you get 88 shades (they also offer the 120 shades palette) for less than $30.00 (their prices fluctuate depending on sales, but still relatively low). These palettes are worth every cent. Especially, as a MAC and YSL girl that I wholeheartedly am, I went into MAC last week and paid about $100.00 for only 4 items, nearly fainted (they raised their prices!) but all is fair in love and—BEAUTY. Now that I’ve discovered BH I am so hooked! I placed 3 additional orders and got makeup for all of my sisters and friends of mine. I am really happy with my BH purchases, and I am not being sponsored by them to say this and even if I were and they were to be no good, I would say it too.
The BH Liquid Eye Liner and Gel Eye Liner
I am the type of woman that will go out of the house without anything except eye liner. I love my cat eyes! *MEOW* So, is it needless to say I’ve tried every eyeliner there is to try on planet earth? Just about! These eyeliners ROCK. LOVE, love, LOVE them! The BH Liquid eyeliner is as smooth as if you are using a sharpie marker. There is no way you could mess that up even if you have never used liquid liner before. It lasted me for most of the day, and when I got home it came right off with makeup remover. I thought I could not like any other liner better until I tried their Gel Eyeliner, and that one is beyond superb. It gets an A+++. Seriously, and this is taking into account how honest I am and extremely hard to please. This gel liner is a keeper. I ordered almost every color!
They offer 19 shades. Love Bronzed, Metal, and Onyx. What’s even more awesome is that BH liners are under $6. You read that? You can’t beat that with a bat!
Eye and Lip Primer
I am addicted to Urban Decay’s Primer Potion, which is not cheap, but I still love it. BH’s primer is just as good. The only difference is in the price, $8.37 USD. Used it on my eyes and lips and my makeup stood intact for hours. I’m SOLD.
Brush Sets
BH Brush Sets are really good. You get 10 brushes for under $30. That is unbeatable. The quality is not bad at all. There are brushes that I’ve paid more for that delivered well, but these are almost just as good. If my fave brushes get an A+, I rate BH brushes as A-/B+. My fave from them is their lip and eyeliner brushes also sold separately right under $3.00.
Lip Liners
These lip liners, I dare say are just as if not way better than my MAC lipliners. I kid you not. I ordered all of their colors. Love them all, but my super fave is Raspberry, RETRO, and Nude. Hard to choose, they are all exquisite shades!
Lip Gloss
The pigmentation. The quality. Super glossy. No stickiness. Smooth. Excellent lip brush. Lasts hours. Can’t stop praising them!! I ordered every color and none have been a disappointment to me.
Blushes
Okay, when it comes to their blushes they are good, but was I as excited about them as I was for all of their other items? Not quite. It didn’t last me as long and I found myself reapplying. Yet, they do give you 10 amazing shades that are beyond lovely at a great size (for under $20.00). I pay twice as much for one blush from YSL. I give them a B-/C+.
Customer Service/Shipping
I placed four orders with them. These were the Transactions:
1st Order: They sent everything except the palette. I called the 1-888 number, during their business hours and got no answer. I emailed them and although they said they will get back to me in 24 hours, they did so in 8 and sent me the palette right away.
2nd Order: They shipped all items, but did not mail me my brush set. I was a bit upset they screwed up not only once, but TWICE. I contacted them, it took 2 days for me to get a response. They sent an apology along with my brush set. I received them in less than a week.
3rd Order: I received everything I ordered. No mistakes.
4th Order: Still waiting for it, hopefully no errors. I bought more items for my girlfriends as Mother’s Day gifts, making a cute little basket with my fave products for them!
In all fairness to BH Cosmetics, I placed large orders and with companies like this it is usually a warehouse packaging items nonstop throughout the day. Mistakes happen. They are humans packaging stuff, it is okay. No matter how upset you want to become with them, you just can’t. The products are just too good, and customer service does put their customers first even if they don’t respond in the next 30 minutes, they do try to do their best. Moreover, they packaged everything carefully, so my orders arrived in perfect condition, nothing was broken. As far as the overall package of the products, it is quite simple. Nothing fancy, which is fine. I am tired of beautiful packagings/illustrations/first class advertisements and in return you get a crappy product. Not the case here. You don’t get fancy-schmancy boxes, but the proof is in the pudding makeup! Every time I wear BH cosmetics, I get so MANY compliments! I will continue being a regular at BH for sure. www.BHcosmetics.com
I went on a shopping spree today for more beauty products and I will be reviewing them in the next couple of weeks. Please do not forget to read our policy and disclaimers. Just because we commend or criticize a product on FashAddiX does NOT mean that they may or may not work for you and that you will suffer or undergo a similar negative/positive experience.
I have normal/dry skin, but during warm weather, my t-zone becomes more oily than usual. Lately I’ve been using Biore’s newly revamped product, their Blemish Fighting Ice Cleanser.Biore gave it a new look advertising how it contains 2% of the “Salicylic acid acne treatment. Invigorates and cools as it removes over 99% of dirt and oil that can cause blemishes.” I would have to agree with them. When I use theBiore Blemish Fighting Ice Cleanser my t-zone is no longer oily. It refreshes skin leaving a nice clean feeling behind. I have to stress that this product did make my face look and feel really clean, feeling cool and refreshed. The downside of it? It evens out most of my skin, but it also overly dries those areas that are not as oily. However, I do wear a moisturizer quickly after each use and it balances my skin again. This product worked for me, although I rarely have breakouts. I am not sure how well it will work for those who have more intense acne problems, but it worked fine for me ridding of the oily areas on my face. Sold at most stores from $5 and up.
If there’s anything I am big on, it is healthy looking brilliant smiles. Personally, I am obsessive about it. I make sure to stay away from caffeinated drinks, floss at the least twice a day, tame my *very active sweet tooth*, visit the dentist twice a year, and brush after every meal (if not possible at the least in the morning and before bedtime). I have been a fan of Crest Whitestrips Supreme with 14% hydrogen peroxide (sold by dentists for about $50-$90) for years and as you can see below it has been working for me. The Crest 3D whitestrips contain 10% hydrogen peroxide.
The past few days I did a switch and tried the Crest 3D White Intensive Professional Effects Whitestrips and I have to say I saw quick results after just one use. I like that unlike other strips by Crest these ones actually have a better grip on your teeth. They do NOT move, do stay on, and doesn’t create much of the saliva foam that makes you spit repeatedly until it is time to take them off. The great thing about it is that it works. The BAD thing is that it made my teeth super sensitive! Although after about half to one hour the pain was completely gone. Also, these strips CLING to every tooth. If you have loose teeth do NOT use these strips, it can pull them out. I don’t wear them beyond 30 minutes and I make sure not to place it on my gums to avoid additional sensitivity. All in all, I LOVE how pearly it left my teeth (about the same results I get with Supreme) that I will continue using them. Visit Crest’s 3Dwhite website for additional information and retailers you can buy them from, prices ranging from $40.00-$65.00.
When a friend of mine introduced me to Exuviance products, I never thought I would love them as much as I do. Exuviance is manufactured by Neostrata Inc. I have been using the:
Exuviance Moisture Balance Toner- This toner leaves my face so well moisturized and supple that I only use it once or twice a week. It removes any excess makeup, dirt, and oils while soothing skin well. It is available in a 7.2 fl oz. bottle that will last you months for sure. The best part is it does not make my skin breakout. There are times it leaves my face so soft I forgo it for a few weeks and then go back to it. I most certainly have seen lasting results and a more even skin tone on my face. I’m not crazy about the clinical fragrance it brings, but this shouldn’t take away how good of a product it is and its deliverance. $28.00 at Neostrata.com
Exuviance Essential Daily Defense Fluid SPF 15- I attest that this cream replaced my La Mer. In all fairness to creme de La Mer, which is a good product, but I feel it is one that works better on more mature skin. I’m still fairly young and the Exuviance Essential Daily Defense Fluid SPF 15 does the job. It is so lightweight, brings SPF 15, and did not cause me any acne breakouts. It contains 7.5% Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate (basically the ingredient that blocks UV-B and UV-A rays) and 2% Titanium Dioxide making it perfect for wearing outdoors during the day. This daily defense fluid moisturizes skin amazingly. It became an instant favorite on my list. Makeup goes on beautifully on top of it without streaking. Although it is not highly recommended for people with ultra-sensitive skin it worked fine on me and I do have somewhat sensitive skin, not to the point I have to use only mineral makeup, but I do, and let me tell you this little potion lotion worked its magic. I love it! $35.00 at Neostrata.com
I recently purchased RUSK’s Deep Shine Oil Treatment and I must confess how much I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this product. It has done wonders for my tresses. It leaves my hair extremely soft, frizz-free, and manageable. The good thing about this oil treatment is that it serves well for most hair types. It leaves processed/dry hair so shiny. And the smell is delicious! It is made with pure argan oil. So many positives to say about this oil that the only con I can think of is the 4oz. bottle retailing (salon stores) for $29.95. A bit steep, but very well worth it. All I use is a quarter size for my hair, which is enough to quench any dryness of my strands leaving my hair wonderfully beautiful by giving it the healthiest sheen ever. Am a HAPPY customer to say the least.
A few days ago, my cousin and I stopped at Walgreens. She saw the Suave Keratin Infusion Smoothing Kit for $13.99 and decided to buy it. She was delighted since she wanted smoother, healthier looking hair and this 3-step process kit promises just that. She did a YouTube search for this product and some people gave it rave reviews. She went to the Suave website, took the test given there, everything seem okay, and was ready to use it since she has not dyed her hair in over two years. The product clearly states in fine print its warning signs:
However, she went for it. Later that same day she calls me in a state of panic. I rushed over to her house only to see her hair falling out in clumps. Her home smelled horribly as if this kit were a perm or relaxer. You must apply it in a ventilated area and by this I mean OUTSIDE (smells like rotten eggs). It is hard to believe this product works as a Keratin treatment. She said she left it on for only 5 minutes when she noticed her hair transforming into nappy little curls. She washed it completely off with a clarifying shampoo and conditioner, but it was too late. Her extremely beautiful hair that she already had (she did NOT need this product!) completely vanished. Her hair is fried almost in its entirety as if she lit a match to it. It melted. This product is an utter NIGHTMARE. The next day we went to the salon to cut over 8 inches off. This Suave Keratin treatment is “tears in a box” because if you use it, you might endup doing lots of crying. She had permed her hair over 10 years ago, so she did not expect such results (new hair grows in by then). Overall, I think this product “might” work better on people with virgin hair (hair that has never been chemically processed). With the damage this infusion kit has done before my eyes to her once lux strands, I refuse to recommend it.
I did further research with her and many users after applying this treatment have completely lost their hair, are now bald, and some are spending hundreds of dollars on wigs. Visit the Suave website for more reviews that for the most part are negative. Sauve is misleading the public, this product does not work well with color treated hair. One thing is marketing a product and another thing is false advertisement. Why would anyone want to use any Suave product after such harsh experience? I am appalled by what I’ve seen, especially when looking at my cousin who now has about 4 inches of hair left. If you use this product, you’ve been warned. Contact a professional if you still feel you will have better luck. As a beauty and fashion reviewer, I have never seen a product cause so much damage as this, and I have seen some special cases. Nothing surpasses this. I do NOT recommend this Suave Keratin Treatment at all. Use at your own risk.
UPDATE #1: Thus far my cousin’s hair is improving (the remaining kinky 4 inches she has left). She used coconut oil which helped a bit and later got a REAL Keratin treatment that she paid over $200 for. Her beautician says this product acted more as a relaxer. She stated that Keratin treatments are supposed to nourish the hair not damage it. She also added that there are relaxers that contain small amounts of Keratin and are being advertised as treatments, when indeed they are harsh straighteners that can lighten and burn hair.
UPDATE #2:Unilever/Suave has DISCONTINUED the selling of this product, it has been recalled.
