It seems Unilever is now face to face with a class action suit for falsely advertising their Suave Professionals Keratin Infusion 30 Day Smoothing Kit product under the Suave brand. Suave’s “at home alternative” kit advertises that it will act as a smoothing keratin treatment when in fact it has done more damage to consumers than any good to their strands. Law firms, Wasserman, Comden, Casselman & Esensten, LLP in Los Angeles has taken the case and Christiansen Davis Bullock, LLC based in Dallas, Texas. They found that this product also contains Tetrasodium EDTA and DMDM Hydantoin (a chemical that releases formaldehyde, a human carcinogen that can cause cancer). Moreover, this smoothing kit has another ingredient, thioglycolic acid, used in depilatories. Thioglycolic acid can also irritate and burn the skin. We will keep you updated on this action lawsuit and hope that Unilever will recompense these women as they rightfully deserve for being mislead into thinking they would get beautiful hair in 30 days, but instead they lost most of their hair in less than 30 minutes.
UPDATE: Unilever/Suave has DISCONTINUED this product, as stated on their website.
