It’s around that time of the year again where the Miss Universe pageant is just as exciting as the Super Bowl. We all gather around, sitting in front of our tube, hoping that our team, or should I say, our girl who represents the country we are from wins the pageant. But how truthful are we? Is it just ethnic pride or are we not being realists? Questions to ask are: Does she have the height, looks, charisma, brilliance, great walk and poise, is she well spoken, photogenic and confident? We’re sure your country has gorgeous, clever women, unfortunately, this year may have been the year they failed to send the most qualified one. That being stated, these are our fave three:

1. Miss Puerto Rico-Ingrid Rivera, Age: 24; Height: 5’9

2. Miss Venezuela-Dayana Mendoza, Age: 22; Height: 5’10

3. Miss Kosovo- Zana Krasniqi, Age: 19; Height 5’7

We also loved Miss Australia, Miss Belgium, Miss Canada, Miss Dominican Republic, Miss Ecuador, Miss Japan, Miss Malaysia, Miss Mexico, Miss Panama, Miss South Africa, Miss Spain, Miss Thailand, Miss USA, and Miss Vietnam, but not enough to make them our top three finalists.

Miss Puerto Rico is a strong contender. Last year the small island sent a pretty woman who happened to have fallen short in meeting all the qualities. But they redeemed themselves with the bedroom eyes beauty; however, if she doesn’t glam it up with a spectacular dress she can lose the crown. The costumes, final walk and evening gown are also EXTREMELY important making or breaking the girl of the night. We need to take all of it into account.

All participants are special in their own way, but this goes beyond beauty, they must not possess one quality, but rather all, let’s see who makes it on Sunday, July 13th from 9-11pm on NBC. You can learn more about the delegates via MissUniverse.com or through Hector Joaquin’s blogspot.
