Before there was Jennifer Lopez there was Puerto Rican singing, dancing and acting sensation, Iris Chacon. Chacon was the hottest entertainer in the island of Puerto Rico who later became one of the most well known international stars in the world. Her fiery red hair, bold fashion costumes and killer curves are what put her on the map. Her measurements: Bust 42, Waist 25 and 40 on the hips is what made this voluptuous babe an all time favorite and the way she shook it had all the guys going GAGA.

She had her own show where she captivated her audience. Once it came on ALL men religiously tuned in. Their eyes were fixed on the tube, and their attention was all for Iris Chacon. I remember when I was 5 years old, had I dare run pass the television when she was ON my dad would’ve had smacked me silly. When it was Chacon time, you leave pops alone and every man who was on a trance for that hour.

The all-natural flaming redheaded bombshell’s show, “El Show de Iris Chacon” had the most prime time ratings in over 15 countries during the 1970’s and 80’s. The Chacon “VEDETTE” (European term meaning multitalented performer) wasn’t bashful. She loved to dance, sing and act. She was the first Hispanic entertainer to grace the front page of the “Wall Street Journal,” in addition to being featured on the most reputable fashion magazines such as GQ, Cosmopolitan and Latina. Chacon was also a guest on many popular late night shows and also won two Gold Record Awards out of her eight LP’s.

Many found controversial a commercial she did selling a “Coolant” , which was a Homonym for “Culan” in Puerto Rico “Culan” means Derrière, and the Latin people felt it was an insult to the community. But with no shame, the Chacon kept on enlightening people everywhere where she remained real with her choices, honest, and a superbly talented dancing machine and red fox. Chacon is now close to 60 years old, a vegetarian and a doctor in Natural Medicine. There have many vedettes out there, but to date none have out beaten the legendary IRIS CHACON.
